Even will be held at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center, 200 E. MLK Blvd.
Enjoy a Persian dinner, dancing, and culture. This is a celebration—-so cocktail attire suggested (but be sure to wear your comfy dancing shoes—-you will need them!)

While this is not an event organized by Sister Cities—-it’s a great opportunity to learn about anther culture and have some fantastic food in the process.
Our longest sister city relationship is with Hamm, Germany (over 40 years!). Over the years, we have taken several trips to Germany, with our friends in Hamm visiting Chattanooga in alternating years.
This year, it’s our turn to visit Hamm. SCA President Karen Claypool lived in Germany for 8 years and speaks German fluently, will lead this year’s delegation in mid-May. The trip will begin with our Sister City of Hamm, then travel down the Rhine and the Romantic Road. There are two possible itineraries:
Option 1: May 13 – 18, 2019
Monday, May 13
Flight from Atlanta via Amsterdam to Duesseldorf.
Tuesday, May 14
Travel by train from Duesseldorf to Hamm, enjoying dinner with host families.
Wednesday, May 15 – Saturday, May 18
Site-seeing in Hamm
Day trips to Muenster and Colgone. Return flight to ATL on Saturday.

Option 2: May 13 – 23, 2019
Saturday, May 18
Travel down the Rhine: towns of Koblenz, Ruedesheim, and Bacharach.
Sunday, May 19
Explore more of the Drosselgasse, then hike or take a cable car to the Niederwald Monument. Four course dinner at Bruehl’s Hotel Trapp.
Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21
Travel by bus along the scenic Romantic Road to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, one of Germany’s most beloved cities. We’ll stay the next two nights within its medieval city wall at Hotel Gerberhaus.
Tuesday, May 22
Scenic bus ride through Lower Bavaria to the small town of Fuessen near the Austrian border to tour one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations: built by “Mad” King Ludwig II of Bavaria, the spectacular fairy tale Palace Neuschwanstein is a bucket list item for sure! Dinner in Munich.
Wednesday, May 23
Return via direct flight from Munich to Atlanta. Meals in flight.

Celebrating the Year of the Pig
The SCA will be hosting a luncheon at P.F. Chang's on February 3 at 1:00 p.m. to usher in the Year of the Pig and honor Chinese New Year.

For over 26 years Chattanooga, Tennessee and Tono, Japan have been friends participating in student exchanges. Over 1200 students and families have participated at CSAS and CSLA with families and students from Tono Koko and Ryoukoho. Come and meet our Japanese Sister City friends from Tono Japan January 9th!
