Please join us as we celebrate Chinese New Year!  This year is the Year of Horse.
 
It's almost time for the new year! The Chinese lunar new year, that is. And SCA will be celebrating once again at the Forbidden City Restaurant at 2273 Gunbarrel Road on Saturday, February 21, beginning at 11:30 AM. Join us!
 
This will be a buffet luncheon, and $20 will cover your meal, drink, tax, and tip. We ask that you have a $20 bill or a check made out to SCA for $20 when you come so that we can pay with one payment in order to expedite the process. Do RSVP by midnight on February 18 to Lynda Burman at 423.362.3723 or by email to allways.ryte@icloud.com. She will confirm after hearing from you.
 
There will be a couple of door prizes given.
 
We are inviting City Council chair Jenny Hill and Councilman Jeff Davis to join us. They both went to China in October for a Sister City summit, and we are asking them to speak about their experiences. They represented us well and have interesting stories to tell.

Join us for our members-only Sister Cities Annual Celebration at the Walden Club!

Enjoy a tasty dinner at the Walden Club in downtown Chattanooga. We will hear the beautiful singing voice of Vincent Hale, as well as money-saving tips from travelers Andrew Rzasa and Christian Rauch. Members will also vote to approve our slate of officers for 2026.

The beautiful Walden Club is the premier city club in Chattanooga and is located at the heart of downtown Chattanooga high atop the tallest building. The stunning views of the city offers an inviting atmosphere of fine dining and socializing. The restaurant offers a menu that is easily an attraction that matches the views high atop Chattanooga. The menu is creative and delicious, with a lovely staff.

Hear from the President of Chattanooga Sister Cities, Karen Claypool, and fellowship with the association's board members. We are looking forward to seeing you.

Join is as we enjoy the Choo Choo Kids Fall Review at CCA (Chattanooga High School Center for Creative Arts). This is an annual event, filled with song and dance, and will occur on Thursday October 09 at 7pm.

Tickets are $10 each. More details will be forthcoming about the event.

We are heading off to the Mediterranean for a delicious evening meal and wonderful companionship! Join us at Bela Lisboa on Wednesday September 24, arriving between 5pm-5:30pm. One of the highlights of the evening will be Karen Claypool's stories and highlights from her recent trip to Osaka, Japan where she attended the US-Japan Sister Cities Summit.

We are heading off to Jolly Old England (at least for the afternoon!). Join us for tea at the Six Little Teacups Bakery on Wednesday, August 27th at 1:00pm. Tea will include a 3-tiered service with sandwiches, scones & jam/cream, desserts and hot/cold beverage. The cost for the Mini-Tea will be $20 and the Regular Tea will be $30. Prices include tax but not an optional tip.
 
Mini-Tea will be three tea-sandwiches (chicken salad, pimento cheese, and egg salad), one scone with jam/cream, two desserts (chef’s choice), and hot/cold tea.

Regular Tea will include the three tea-sandwiches listed above as well as two more (chef’s choice), two scones with jam/cream, three desserts (chef’s choice) and hot/cold tea.

Join us as we host a BBQ picnic to meet three students from Hamm, Germany and their host families. They will be staying here in Hamilton County for four weeks.

We as an organization have planned a picnic for the evening of Thursday, July 17th. We've booked Shelter 2 at Chester Frost Park. Please join us at 5PM for barbecue, coleslaw, baked beans - which SCA will purchase - and an evening of great fun. We do ask that you contribute a side dish to go along with the barbecue. Veggies, fruit salad, dessert. . . anything that would augment the meal.
 
If you are interested in swimming, you can arrive even earlier. And if you want to participate in Nooga Splash, just go online to purchase tickets.

Chattanooga Sister Cities invites its members to the annual Flavors of the World celebration on Thursday, May 1 2025.

Attendees can sample dishes representing the City of Chattanooga’s eight global sister cities — Wuxi, China; Hamm, Germany; Wolfsburg, Germany; Givatayim, Israel; Nizhny Tagil, Russia; Gangneung, Republic of Korea, Tono, Japan; and Accra, Ghana. 

Global entertainers will kick off the event at 6 p.m., and the international cuisine will be served along with salad, bread and dessert beginning at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s event will be at Pilgrim Congregational Church, located at 400 Glenwood Dr.

Ilya is delightful and has been wildly received in Chattanooga. Come learn about the influences that persuaded him to pursue music as a career and how he landed in the Scenic City.

Please join us as we celebrate the Persian Nowruz!

Presented by Chattanooga Sister Cities and the Chattanooga Persian community, we invite you to the 2025 Chattanooga Persian Nowruz (New Year) Celebration!  This festivity will occur Saturday March 29, 2025, at the Bessie Smith Celebration Hall.

The Persian Nowruz occurs each year on the first day of spring, celebrating the rebirth of nature. This is the largest cultural event for Persians, and it is celebrated in a number of countries, including Iran and Afghanistan.

The community is invited to celebrate, and tickets include a Persian dinner, a special presentation, and a dance party. Alcohol may be available and sold separately. Parking on site is free, and street parking is free after 6pm.

Tickets are on sale for Sister Cities and the Persian community. Be sure to get your tickets now before they open to the public.

Tickets are $50 each and $35 for children 4-18 (children under 4 are free).
